VON DUPRIN INVENTORS AWARDED
PATENT FOR PNEUMATIC EXIT DEVICE
INDIANAPOLIS
--Two
Von Duprin employees have been awarded a patent
for the invention of a pneumatically controlled
exit device. Sales Development Manager S. Carl
Dean, AHC, (left in photo) and Application Engineer
Ken Salter, AHC, have received U.S. Patent Number
5,372,394.
The pneumatically controlled
exit device assembly is used to remotely latch
and unlatch a door by controlling the air pressure
directed to the device from a pneumatic pressure
source. It includes a push-bar-operated exit device
for manually retracting the latch on an emergency
door, as well as an air cylinder assembly biased
to control the pneumatic latch retraction in response
to changes in air pressure.
Pneumatic exit devices are
used for installations that require remote unlocking
capability but are located in hazardous locations
where electrically operated devices could not
be used. They are marketed by Von Duprin in rim,
mortise, concealed vertical rod and surface vertical
rod touchbar devices.
Additional information on
the pneumatic exit device is available from Von
Duprin, Inc., P.O. Box 6023, Indianapolis, IN
46206.
