Mechanical Solution

The quiet mechanical (QM) solution provides a damper-controlled lever return for exit trim, and likewise, damper-controlled re-latching options. This damper controlled action reduces operational noise of the hardware that can be especially distracting in healthcare, education, and hospitality environments.

Devices with QM option are also compatible with other mechanical and electronic options including quiet electric latch retraction (QEL), accessible design (AX), request to exit switch (RX), cylinder (CD) and hex (HD) dogging to address a variety of solutions.

For optimal quiet performance of your total opening, use the Von Duprin QM option along with a properly adjusted door closer and door silencers. The acoustical performance of an opening is based on a variety of factors including the door and frame material, closer performance, and door accessories.

Electrified Solution

For electrified openings, the Quiet Electric Latch retraction (QEL) provides electronic control of an exit device for environments where limited operational noise is desired. Often the QEL is used with a credential reader and access control system to unlock the door momentarily for authorized users.

The QEL option is ideal for hospitals, libraries, museums and theaters where ambient noise can be disruptive.
