Perimeter Security

Von Duprin exit devices are a key component in securing the perimeter of a school. The main entrance is often open during arrival and departure but locked throughout the day while students are in building. Electrified exit devices, power supplies and electric switches are part of perimeter solutions that allow for programmed lock schedules, remote monitoring and centralized lockdown during emergencies.

Most schools have electrified openings on the main entrance, but not on all perimeter doors. The Von Duprin Remote Undogging and Remote Monitoring options are great for secondary perimeters that are often propped open for sports or other events. Remote monitoring allows facilities personnel to know which doors are unlocked and remote dogging allows for these openings to be undogged remotely for quick lockdown.

Classroom Security

Exit devices are required on openings for rooms with occupancy of 50 people or more. It is often forgotten that the school cafeteria, gymnasium, music rooms and auditorium are also classrooms and need the ability to be locked down in an emergency. Von Duprin offers security indicators on the trim that quickly lets staff and students know if a door is locked. See how Von Duprin is part of the overall classroom security solution.

Lockdown

Safety of students and staff is paramount on every campus.

For mechanical openings, Von Duprin offers the double cylinder with security indicators option which locks the outside trim, or pull side of the door, from inside the room. This option includes easy to follow directional indication and a clear security indicator. For applications that require dogging, the cylinder (CDSI) hex (HDSI) dogging indicators can be used to provide at-a-glance verification of the status of the door from inside of the room. For electrified devices with latch retraction, the Emergency Security Lockdown (ESL) interrupts power to the QEL motor, extending the latchbolt to secure pull side of the door as well as sends a signal to the access control system.

Additionally, Von Duprin Remote Monitoring and Remote Undogging options are great for adding electrified functionality to remotely monitor door lock status or remotely undog (lock) doors if an emergency arises.
