Hurricane resistant openings are designed to withstand storm conditions for long periods of time. The primary purpose is to not only prevent debris and wind from penetrating the assembly but also to maintain functionality after the storm.

Other product considerations:

Weep holes - ideal for devices that are mounted to exterior doors that can be exposed to rain and other elements and enables water to drain. These are available on the 98/99 Series Exit Devices and 33A/35A Series Exit Devices.
Waterproof switches - protected from contact with harmful dust and from immersion in water with a depth of up to 1 meter (3.3 feet) for up to 30 minutes. Waterproof switches are available on 98/99 Series Exit Devices, 33A/35A Series Exit Devices, 94/95 Series INPACT Exit Devices, 22 Series Exit Devices, 88 Series Exit Devices and 55 Series Exit Devices.
Weather resistant components - Built with weather resistant components that can withstand the harsh conditions of various climates, and tested to withstand corrosive cleaners typically used in outdoor pool environments, Von Duprin offers hardware for pool enclosures as part of the 98/99 Series Exit Devices and specific remote exit trim.
